There is only one of these in existence. And there will never be another.
This extraordinary piece was handcrafted from yellow pine by a master carpenter as a one-of-a-kind birthday gift for his wife on January 13, 1983 — just 28 days after Bear Bryant's final game (the 1982 Liberty Bowl, Alabama 21, Illinois 15) and only 13 days before Coach Bryant passed away on January 26, 1983. The maker loved his wife so much he poured his craft into this gift, and when asked to make another, he refused — for love nor money. This was hers, and hers alone.
It hung proudly on her bedroom wall from 1983 until she passed away in 2014. It has been carefully kept since then, and now it's time for another true collector to give it the home it deserves.
The plaque features three photographs of Coach Bryant — including the iconic Liberty Bowl scoreboard reading "Goodbye Bear, We Will Miss You" — along with his full inspirational quote and facsimile signature:
"If you believe in yourself and have dedication and pride — and never quit, you'll be a winner. The price of victory is high — but so are the rewards."
— Paul "Bear" Bryant
