A remarkable time capsule from Christmas Eve, 1958. This amber glass prescription bottle retains its original typed pharmacy label from Decatur Apothecary, located on Grant St. S.E. in Decatur, Alabama — complete with prescription number, prescribing physician (Dr. Simpson), patient name (Mrs. Cowan), and date (12.24.58). Directions read: "three times a day after meals."
Still contains 2 of the original pills — an extraordinary detail that makes this a true pharmaceutical and social history artifact.
Bottles like this with intact labels, named provenance, and original contents are increasingly rare and sought after by apothecary collectors, medical history enthusiasts, and cottagecore decorators alike.
Condition: Please review all photos carefully. Label shows age-appropriate toning and wear. Bottle is intact.
Sold as a collectible antique only. Contents are not for consumption. All items sold as-is.
